Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have added another quarterback with the signing of Terrance Owens.  A dual-threat quarterback from the University of Toledo, Owens provides the Axemen with another playmaking signal caller.

“We are really excited to add Terrance to the Axemen family,” Axemen head coach Dixie Wooten stated.  “He’s shown that he can lead a team and we have zero doubt he can do the same for the Axemen.”

In his college years, Owens was the ultimate leader for the Rockets.  In his four years with the team, he amassed 8,203 passing yards with 63 touchdowns and an overall passer rating of 142.9.  In his senior season Owens threw for 2,230 yards with 18 touchdowns.

Owens also brings the ability to scramble and making plays with his feet to the table.  He rushed for 918 yards and nine touchdowns in his time with the Rockets.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have signed four participants from the 2014 Free Agent Combine held this past weekend in Fargo, ND.  The Axemen have signed offensive linemen William Slade, fullback/linebacker Brent Kondziolka, defensive back Larry Miller, Jr., and wide receiver Ernest Dorsett III to contracts for the upcoming 2015 season.

Slade (6’0, 325) provides the Axemen with needed depth at the offensive line position with the ability to play both center and guard.  After playing with Northland Community College for two seasons, Slade joined the Beavers in 2012.  Slade is currently majoring in criminal justice at Bemidji State University.

Kondziolka (6’1, 228) brings versatility with the ability to play both fullback and linebacker for the team.  Kondziolka was a three year starter at Bemidji State, finishing his career for the Beavers with 444 all-purpose yards and eight touchdowns.  He also served as captain for the 2013 team.

Miller, Jr. (5’11, 185) gives the Axemen another solid defensive back on the roster.  As a three year starter for Bemidji State, Miller accumulated 118 tackles, six interceptions, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.  Miller joined Knodziolka as a captain for the 2013 Beaver team.

Dorsett III (5’10, 170) displayed excellent hands and quickness at the combine, earning a training camp spot at wide receiver with the Axemen.  Dorsett last played for St. Cloud State in 2010 as a wide receiver and kick returner.  He was third on the team at wide receiver with 24 receptions for 174 yards and second on the team in kick, accumulating 124 yards and a 13.8 yards per return average.  Dorsett II is the great-nephew of NFL Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have re-signed a familiar face in wide receiver DeMario Pippen.

Pippen was a mainstay for the Axemen season, playing in all but one game for the team.  He finished second on the team with 197 rushing yards and five touchdowns, while adding 17 receptions for 131 yards and a receiving touchdown.  Pippen was also a key contributor on special teams, notching 427 return yards for an average of 17.8 yards per return.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have added a quarterback to the roster with signing of E.J. White.

With a pressing need at the quarterback position, the Axemen seem to have found their diamond in the rough with White (6’1, 185).  Having been known as a dual-threat quarterback, White brings dynamic playmaking ability to the Axemen offense.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have bolstered their offensive and defensive lines with the signings of two offensive lineman, Tino Tuilata (6’5, 320) and Sini Tauauve’a (6’2, 310), and defensive lineman Braxton Magalogo.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen continue to add their growing roster with the signing of defensive back Rodney Anthony.

Anthony (6’1, 220) last played for the San Angelo Bandits of the Lone Star Football League, where he lead the team in tackles (24) and notched four forced fumbles. With experience playing both defensive back and linebacker, Anthony brings versatility to the Axemen defense.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have added to their receiving corps with the signing of wide receiver Xavier Boyce.  The signing of Boyce (6’4, 220) brings a big, physical receiver to an already exciting Axemen receiving corps.

“We are really excited to add Xavier to the Axemen family,” Axemen general manager Adam Barnhardt stated.  “He brings an energy level and skill set that will really help make our offense successful.”

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have brought another NFL-caliber player to the team with the announcement of former Buffalo Bills running back Chris Douglas being signed to a contract for the 2015 season.

Known as a speedy back with great vision and a powerful running style, Douglas most recently earned an invitation to compete with the Buffalo Bills in training camp before being sidelined with an injury.  Looking to get back to the game he loves, Douglas will provide an immediate boost to the Axemen rushing attack.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have boosted their rushing attack by signing running back Mulku Kalokoh (Moo-koo Kuh-low-koh) to their 2015 roster.

Kalokoh (5’10”, 193 lbs.) last played football at Southern Illinois University.  As a senior, Kalokoh posted 131 rushing yards on 31 carries while adding 34 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown for the Salukis.  He was highly utilized in the special teams game at SIU, recording 487 kick return yards and blocking two kicks.  He earned MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors as a senior.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have signed former Buffalo Bills defensive back Jajuan Harley.  Harley spent this year’s NFL Preseason with the Buffalo Bills, playing in all four preseason games with the team.  He made it to the end of training camp before being released as a part of final cuts.

Harley signed with the Axemen last season before signing a Futures Contract with the Bills just before the Axemen kicked off training camp in February.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen are proud to announce that they have re-signed  All-IFL wide receiver Ryan Balentine to their 2015 roster.

Balentine, the leading receiver for the team in 2014, finished last year’s campaign with 71 receptions for 1,029 yards and 14 touchdowns on his way to 1 st Team All-IFL honors.  The re-signing of Balentine adds another lethal piece to an excellent Axemen receiving corps.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen look to improve their high-flying offense with the signings of wide receiver Darnell Williams and running back Brandon Anderson.

Williams spent two season at Louisiana College where he notched 3,720 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns on his way to two straight All-Conference selections.  Most recently he played for the New Orleans VooDoo of the AFL.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen return two veterans to the team after re-signing wide receiver Josh Jarboe and defensive lineman Rony Nelson.

Jarboe returns to help the Axemen wide receiver group after having a productive season last year.  Jarboe, an Arkansas State University alum, notched 244 receiving yards on 27 receptions with four touchdowns in five games with the team.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen look to strengthen their defense with the signing of defensive back Earl Brooks.

“Earl will be a great addition for us this year,” Axemen head coach Dixie Wooten stated.  “He has great ball skills and understanding of the game.  I’m excited to coach Earl.”

A native of Deerfield Beach, FL, Brooks last played for Minnesota State University – Mankato.  In 14 games for the Mavericks, Brooks tallied 53 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles on his way to a 2 nd Team All-NCIS South Division selection in 2012.

Prior to Minnesota State, Brooks spent three seasons with Iowa State University, where he was a Big 12 Honor Roll student.

Bemidji, MN – The Bemidji Axemen have re-signed kicker Zach Pulkinen and running back Avery Walker, alumni of Bemidji State University

Pulkinen played in nine games for the Axemen last season, finishing first in the league in point-after kicking percentage (93.8 percent) and fourth in the league in field goal percentage (40 percent).  Pulkinen, a native of Minot, ND, attended Bemidji State University and earned 2013 AP Division II Second Team All-American honors.

“Zach is a great kicker,” Axemen head coach Dixie Wooten stated.  “With him, we always feel like we will end drives with a score.”

Walker signed with the Axemen toward the end of last season and appeared in zero games for the franchise.  While attending Bemidji State, Walker’s standout season came in 2013 as he finished with 1,314 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 189 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.  His performance earned him 1 st Team All-NSIC North honors.

“Avery is a talented young running back and is a hard worker,” said Wooten.  “He will make a difference this season.”

The Axemen kick off their sophomore season in February of 2015 on Palace Casino Field at the Sanford Center.  The 2015 IFL schedule will be released in 2015.  Season tickets to all eight (8) games of Bemidji Axemen football in 2015 are now on sale and can be purchased online through www.bemidjiaxemen.com.
